Dr. Wong Yew Hoong is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya (UM). He is a Professional Engineer (PEng / Ir.) in Material Engineering discipline registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council UK, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) UK, Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM), Member of Young Scientists Network – Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM), Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (SMIEEE) USA, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) registered with the Project Management Institute (PMI) USA.
Dr. Wong’s main research area is on electronic materials. He has published more than 110 research papers in WoS/SCIE-indexed journals, 5 invited book chapters, and 1 filed Malaysian patent. He currently serves as Editorial Board Member for Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing (WoS/SCIE, IF = 4.1) and Section Editor for ASM Science Journal (Scopus). He received the 2020 EPS Outstanding Young Engineer Award from IEEE, USA for his contributions in the field of electronic packaging materials and semiconductor fabrication technologies. He also won numerous awards at international and national exhibitions pertaining to his research work. Thus far, Dr. Wong supervised 55 postgraduate students (8 PhD, 8 MEngSc, and 20 MEng completed; 17 PhD and 2 MEngSc on-going) and 2 postdoctoral research fellows in his research group.
